This site does not quote prices: a figure without your house in front of it would be a guess. What it can do is list what the contractor will price, so two quotes can be compared line by line.
For a cleaning
- Length of gutter around the house, and how many separate runs.
- Stories and pitch. Two stories, a steep roof, or a run over a deck or a slope takes longer and more ladder work.
- Roof material. Some roofs can be walked and some cannot; tile and slate need more care.
- How packed the gutters are and how long since the last cleaning.
- Guards that have to be lifted and refitted.
- Downspouts, especially underground lines that need flushing or snaking.
- Hauling the debris away.
For new gutters
- Length, measured run by run, and the number of corners, end caps and outlets.
- Size and material: 5-inch or 6-inch, aluminum thickness, steel or copper.
- Downspouts: how many and what size. The calculator shows what your roof sections need at your city's design downpour.
- Hangers: type and spacing.
- Fascia repair found when the old gutters come down.
- Guards, if they go on with the new gutters.
- Removal and hauling of the old gutters.
Comparing quotes
Ask each contractor to write the same lines: material and size, linear feet, number and size of downspouts, hanger spacing, fascia allowance, guards, and what the warranty covers and for how long. A lower total that leaves out downspouts or fascia is not a lower price.
